Alexa Pompilio and David d’Entremont - Have you ever looked up at the sky in the darkness of night and seen a shadowy flurry of wings only to have them flutter out of sight? Those of us who watch the sky closely at night are familiar with briefly catching sight of bats, but even so, bats are secretive, out of reach and are as mysterious as the night they come from. How is it that bats manage to navigate in the darkness? Where do they live and how do they forage? What are the threats that have caused half of Ontario’s bats to be listed as Endangered? Join Alexa and David as they discuss the secret lives of bats and learn how we are using habitat features and ultrasonic technology to study bats in the Ontario landscape.
