Courtney Shaw: “ Courtney Shaw has an interest in raptors and bird-banding, and she comes by it honestly, being the daughter of long-time member Nigel Shaw, who is himself a veteran bander. Nigel has traveled more than once to Africa to band raptors. When he returned in 2014, Courtney made a resolution, and that was to go on the next trip there to be a full participant in the expedition. She saved up all her allowance, birthday and Christmas money for three years and finally, in February, 2017 her adventure began. She traveled to Johannesburg, and during the two weeks they were there, she traveled up to the Limpopo River and back, banding mostly raptors the whole way. As a once-in-a-lifetime experience, she looks forward to sharing her journey with the BFNC. |
