 ft program & will also answer questions about Bird Studies Canada's other p
 rograms.<br /><br />Please bring a lunch. Light refreshments will be provid
 ed and don't forget to bring your mug.<br /><br />After the regional meetin
 g, join Chris Evans to look for migrating waterfowl along the south shore o
 f Kempenfelt Bay.<br /><br />In the fall, a small fish called the Emerald S
 hiner migrates in large numbers to winter in the deep waters of Kempenfelt 
 Bay.  Local and migrant birds take advantage of this bounty providing viewi
 ng opportunities for many species not usually seen here in other seasons.  
 Little, Bonaparte's & Black-backed Gulls, Red-breasted and Hooded Merganser
 s, Long-tailed Duck, White-winged & Black Scoters, Red-throated Loon, Trump
 eter & Tundra Swans and Red-necked Grebe often make appearances, some in go
 od numbers.  Large floocks of Common Loon, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead and
  Scaup are common.<br /><br />We will carpool from Inniswood Baptist Church
  460 Yonge Street, Barrie and make short, easy walks to stand by the water 
 to view the birds.  It can be very cool, windy and damp standing at the wat
 er, so please dress appropriately for the weather forecast.  Binoculars are
  essential and spotting scopes and Field Guides are very useful.</p>
