SUMMARY:SCANLON CREEK CONSERVATION AREA

DESCRIPTION:<p>This small but beautiful conservation area on the shore line of ancient 
 Lake Algonquin is a nature lover&rsquo;s paradise</p><p>It is home to many 
 species of birds and other fauna. Fall is an especially beautiful time of y
 ear in this oasis of woodland and wetland with colours starting to change a
 nd the fall migration is in full swing. It boasts a small pond and riparian
  habitat.</p><p>This walk is on well maintained park trails but some are on
  very steep hills. Down and up! People must be able to navigate this terrai
 n. It is a few kilometres around the path.</p><p>Note: There are no washroo
 ms along the trail and at a minimum this walk will take two full hours ther
 e and back. There are outhouses at the parking lot entrance. Wear good reli
 able hiking footwear and possibly a hiking pole for the hills.</p><p>If it&
 rsquo;s pouring rain at the GO station, we may cancel. <b>If you wish to at
 tend, it will be important to send me your cell number beforehand. </b></p>
 <p>Drive is about 20 minutes to Scanlon Creek south on Yonge Street.. <b>Pa
 rking at Scanlon Creek is $6 per car. </b></p><p><i>Dress for fall weather.
  Bring your own snacks and drinks. No dogs.</i></p><p><i>Keep an eye also o
