                                                    “\nCourtney Shaw has an 
 interest in raptors and bird-banding, and she comes by it honestly, being t
 he daughter of long-time member Nigel Shaw, who is himself a veteran bander
 . Nigel has traveled more than once to Africa to band raptors. When he retu
 rned in 2014, Courtney made a resolution, and that was to go on the next tr
 ip there to be a full participant in the expedition. She saved up all her a
 llowance, birthday and Christmas money for three years and finally, in Febr
 uary, 2017 her adventure began. She traveled to Johannesburg, and during th
 e two weeks they were there, she traveled up to the Limpopo River and back,
  banding mostly raptors the whole way. As a once-in-a-lifetime experience, 
 she looks forward to sharing her journey with the BFNC. \n
