SUMMARY:WILKINS WALK/HEWITT’S CREEK RAVINE TRAIL TO LAKE SIMCOE
LOCATION:Depart LLPL 7.30am… 8.00am at Walnut Crescent. (Big Bay Pt Rd E to Pine Dri
 ve to Walnut Cres.)
DESCRIPTION:Meet at LLPL at 7.30am and car pool to south end of Barrie or meet Paul on 
 Walnut Crescent (in the south end of Barrie) – at the trail entrance to sta
 rt the walk at 8:00am. We’ll be walking along partially wooded lowland to u
 pper wooded forests and then down into the lower woods where we walk alongs
 ide the striking Hewitt Creek as it finalizes it’s run into Lake Simcoe. Ea
 ch way takes about an hour or so. We’ll be looking for Indigo Buntings, Red
  Tail Hawks, Coopers Hawk, Pine Warblers, Cedar Waxwings, Red Breasted, Pil
 eated Woodpeckers, Downeys, Hairys, and many different types of Sparrows, G
 reen Herons, Blue Herons, Swifts, Kingfishers and waterfowl along the lake 
 shore line. Note: There are no washrooms along the trail and at a minimum i
 t takes two full hours there and back.   Easy to moderate walking with a co
 uple of steep hills. Snack and water.
