Depart LLPL 7.30am… 8.00am at Walnut Crescent. (Big Bay Pt Rd E to Pine Drive to Walnut Cres.)

Meet at Little Lake Park at 7.30am and car pool to south end of Barrie or meet Paul on Walnut Crescent (in the south end of Barrie) – at the trail entrance to start the walk at 8:00am. We’ll be walking along partially wooded lowland to upper wooded forests and then down into the lower woods where we walk alongside the striking Hewitt Creek as it finalizes it’s run into Lake Simcoe. Each way takes about an hour or so.

We’ll be looking for Indigo Buntings, Red-Tailed Hawks, Cooper’s Hawks, Cedar Waxwings, Red Breasted Nuthatches, Downy, Hairy and maybe Pileated Woodpeckers, and different types of Sparrows. We may find Green and Blue Herons, Kingfishers and waterfowl along the lake shore line.

Note: There are no washrooms along the trail and at a minimum it takes two full hours there and back. Easy to moderate walking with a couple of steep hills. Snack and water.
